Amid rumours of train operations resuming and people crowding inside railway stations, the Ministry of Railways has issued a clarification and urged people to not believe in misinformation.

New Delhi: Ministry of Railways has issued a clarification stating that only passengers brought and facilitated by state governments, are being allowed to travel via trains. It said that some special trains are being run following requests by state governments but normal passenger trains are not operational amid nationwide lockdown. There were rumours floating around which claimed that people were crowding inside railway stations to book tickets as they believed rail operations to have resumed. "No tickets being sold at any station.  It is clarified that few special trains which are being run for migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places, are being operated on request of state governments only. All other passenger train services remain suspended." - Indian Railways said in its statement. The officials have strictly asked other individuals to not come to railway stations as they are not allowed to come in and also, no tickets are being sold anywhere. "All other passengers and suburban trains remain suspended, therefore, NO ONE should come to Railway Station," - Indian Railways. In a tweet, the government has claimed that the passengers who have been allowed to board the trains after seeking permission from their respective state authorities, have not been charged for their travel. The officials have strongly urged people to neither spread rumours nor believe claims of trains being operational. Watch: Bihar govt to give Rs 500 & free rail tickets to labourers returning home.
