Domestic Carriers Allowed To Operate At 65% Passenger Capacity From Current 50%: Centre

In an official notice issued on Monday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said that domestic carriers can now operate at 65 per cent passenger capacity from the current 50 per cent. 

New Delhi: Considering the increasing passengers' demand for domestic air travel, the central government on Monday anounced to increase the capacity of domestic civil aviation operations from 50 per cent to 60 per cent. 

In an official notice issued on Monday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said that domestic carriers can now operate at 65 per cent passenger capacity from the current 50 per cent. 

"After review of the curret status of schedules Domestic Operations viz-aviz passenger demand for air travel in terms of purpose specified in the initial order...is further modified as - 50% capacity may be read as 65% capacity," the notice read. 

The order further stated that it shall take effect from the date of issue of the order and shall be applicable upto July 31, 2021 or until further orders. Meanwhile, other terms and conditions shall remain the same. 

In April, the Civil Aviation Ministry released SOP for Domestic Flights as per which, no meals will be given for domestic flight with a duration of less than two hours. 

As per the guidelines, disposable tray set-up, plates and cutlery will be used in all classes which shall not be re-used. The airlines' crew have been directed to wear a fresh set of gloves for every meal or beverage service.
