Chandni Chowk To Remain Under Lockdown Until April 25 Decide Traders' Association

Delhi government will announce a complete curfew from tonight to next Monday morning amid a record rise in cases.

New Delhi: On Sunday, the Traders' association announced that the Chandni Chowk market will remain shut till April 25th 2021 in view of the surging Covid cases. 

After an emergency meeting the Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal decided that they will close the market until April 25th as the virus is spreading rapidly. Also. the Delhi Kirana Committee of Khari Baoli Market and the Chemical Merchant Association of Tilak Bazaar also announced closure of markets till April 21.

"Today Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal in an emergency meeting with its members has decided to request its members to keep their establishment closed till April 25 in light of very serious condition of the virus spreading at a very large volumes. We will take a decision after assessing the condition on next Sunday," Chandni Chowk traders body president Sanjay Bhargava said in a statement according to a PTI report. 

Adding, "The most alarming aspect is the galloping positivity rate and shortages of hospital beds, oxygen, ventilators and medicines and other medical facilities in use of the epidemic".

Meanwhile, several market associations had on Friday called for strict enforcement of Covid-19 protocols and expressed that lockdown is not a solution.

Delhi government will announce a complete curfew from tonight to next Monday morning amid a record rise in cases. The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is holding a meeting with Lt. Governor Anil Baijal. Sources have confirmed to ABP News that CM Kejriwal will hold a press conference at 12 pm and will announce the 7-Day Curfew.
