Delhi Govt Converts 4 Hospitals Into Dedicated Omicron Centres — Check List Here

The announcement of dedicating hospitals for Omicron patients comes a day after Delhi reported 12 new cases of the new variant taking the tally to 22.

New Delhi: On the backdrop of the ongoing scare of new Covid variant Omicron in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government on Saturday converted four hospitals of the city to treat patients suffering from the new mutant.

According to reports, four hospitals that will now treat patients of Omicron - a highly contagious variant of Coronavirus first detected in South Africa - are Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Max Hospital in Saket, Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj and Batra Hospital in Tughlakabad.

Currently, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital is providing treatment to patients infected by the new strain in the national capital. Now, a total of five hospitals will provide the treatment for the variant.

Here's a list of hospitals in Delhi that now provide Omicron treatment:

* Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, Delhi Gate

* Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Old Rajinder Nagar

* Max Hospital, Saket

* Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj

* Batra Hospital, Tughlakabad

The announcement of dedicating hospitals for Omicron patients comes a day after Delhi reported 12 new cases of the new variant taking the tally to 22.

Out of the 109 Omicron cases detected in India so far, Maharashtra has 32 infections, the highest in the country followed by Delhi.

To tackle any possible surge in Omicron case in the capital city, Delhi Health Department has issued an order directing hospitals to augment human resources, including doctors, nurses and other staff against the vacant posts and extra 25 per cent of the sanctioned strength till March 31.

Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had on Thursday informed that Omicron variant of the coronavirus had not spread in the community so far and the situation was under control.
