Delhi: ITBP Jawan Commits Kills Self. Mentions Domestic Discord In Suicide Note

An ITBP jawan posted at Nehru Planetarium in Delhi committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver in the suicide note discovered mentions domestic dispute.

New Delhi: A 31-year-old Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan, who was on security duty at the Nehru Planetarium complex in Delhi's Chanakyapuri, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle. According to the information given by the officials, constable Y Reddy was found dead around 5 am on Sunday and his INSAS rifle was found next to him.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police team reached the spot immediately. The blood-soaked jawan was rushed to the hospital but the doctors declared him brought dead.

Reddy was from Karnataka and had returned to duty after a 30-day leave about two weeks ago. Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, Deepak Yadav said Reddy was currently posted at Nehru Planetarium in Chanakyapuri. "Prima facie it appears that the constable had shot himself in the chest with his service weapon," the DCP said.

Officials said an alleged suicide note was found from the cupboard near the deceased jawan's bed in which he accused his wife and father-in-law of mentally torturing him. There is also mention of discord in marital life. The young man got married in October last year. Police said the family members of the jawan have been informed. The post-mortem will be done only after their arrival.
