Del-Mum Expressway 1st Phase Launch: Delhi-Jaipur Travel Time Slashed By 2-Hours

A commuter from Jaipur will be able to travel the Sohna, Dausa, and Lalsot stretch to get to Delhi in less than five hours.

With the launch of the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Tuesday, travel time on the existing Delhi-Jaipur highway (NH-48) will reduce by two hours, reported news agency IANS. The total one-way toll for a private vehicle travelling from New Delhi to Jaipur will be Rs 585. The toll on the newly inaugurated expressway will be calculated based on the total number of kilometres driven.

With wayside facilities every 30 km, the eight-lane expressway will include a 120kmph speed restriction for cars. A commuter from Jaipur will be able to travel the Sohna, Dausa, and Lalsot stretch to get to Delhi in less than four hours.

The whole stretch is under CCTV observation, and speed detection boards have been put up every 20 kilometres to warn drivers about their speed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway during his visit to Rajasthan's Dausa district, news agency ANI reported.

Highlighting the Centre's infrastructure investments during the previous nine years, PM Modi stated that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor will be two strong pillars of growth for Rajasthan and the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of infrastructure spending on Sunday, adding that new roads and airports, among other things, accelerate the country's prosperity.

According to the Prime Minister, infrastructure investment encourages additional investment.

"I take great pride in dedicating the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to the nation today. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is one of the largest and most modern expressways. It presents the developed face of India. I congratulate the residents of Dausa and the countrymen," said the PM at the Inauguration, according to ANI.

The Delhi Mumbai Expressway's 246 km Delhi - Dausa - Lalsot stretch was built for more than Rs 18,100 crore. The operationalisation of this segment would significantly speed up regional economic growth and cut the distance between Delhi and Jaipur's airport from five to around three hours.
