Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Admitted To AIIMS Due To Back Pain, Condition Stable

The public relations officer of AIIMS stated that Singh is currently stable. The neuro department is yet to give further updates regarding the union minister's health.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New delhi after he complained of back pain. He was admitted to the neuro department of the hospital.

The public relations officer of AIIMS stated that Singh is currently stable.The neuro department is yet to give further updates regarding the union minister's health.

AIIMS media cell in-charge Dr Rima Dada told PTI that the Union minister is undergoing tests and is under observation. 

"The 73-year-old was admitted early in the morning and is in the Old Private Ward," she said.

Singh, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and national president of the BJP, turned 73 on July 10.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted his Cabinet colleague on his birthday on Wednesday, saying that he had risen in public life through his hardwork and commitment to service.

Wishing the Union Defence Minister, PM Modi said on X: "A valued Cabinet colleague, he's a leader widely respected for his wisdom. He's risen in public life on the basis of hardwork and commitment to service. He is at the forefront of strengthening India's defence apparatus and making our nation self reliant in the sector. Praying for his long and healthy life." 

Rajnath Singh began his political journey as a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the RSS. From there, he joined the BJP's youth wing, rising to greater positions in the party. 

Currently, Singh represents Lucknow in Lok Sabha.
