Covid Effect: Night Curfew Begins In Karnataka, Here’s A List Of Dos and Don'ts

The Karnataka Government made the announcement earlier on Thursday following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to all states to impose fresh restrictions to tackle the pandemic.

Bengaluru: In a bid to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 11-day night curfew began at 10 p.m. Saturday in some districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, during which the state government has given permission for only essential services, patients and passengers to ply.

With Karnataka being among the 10 states that have shown a steep rise in the daily Covid-19 cases, a night curfew has been announced between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. every day from April 10 to 20 in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumakuru and Udupi-Manipal cities.

Covid Rules for Bengaluru: 

  • Vehicles providing essential services, patients and their kin will only be allowed to travel at night when the curfew is on. In addition, home delivery, e-commerce and essential goods transportation have been permitted in the night.
  • The passengers coming to and going from Bengaluru are also allowed to travel but they must carry along the travel documents. The companies operating at night have also been given the nod to function but asked to ensure the employees report to work before 10 the night curfew begins.
  • No special passes for vehicular movement will be issued for any reason during the night when the city will remain shut

Exemptions:

  • The state government has, however, exempted those suffering from health issues along with their attendants for obtaining health services
  • The vehicles providing essential services and those carrying freight, home delivery besides E-commerce and empty vehicles have been allowed to operate during the night hours
  • The state government has also given permission with regard to travelling to distant places by bus, train and airplanes
  • The passengers on the basis of their official tickets are allowed to travel from their house to the bus or train stations or airport and vice versa

Violators To Be Fined:

The violators will be booked under the Disaster Management Act 2005, IPC and other relevant acts.
