‘Corruption Biggest Roadblock To Democracy, Justice’: PM Modi At CBI’s Diamond Jubilee Event. Key Highlights

He further stated that corruption is the biggest roadblock to democracy and justice and that it is CBI's key responsibility to free India from the clutches of corruption.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. 

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi called CBI a brand for justice and said, "CBI has given hope and strength to the common citizen. People hold protests to demand CBI inquiry as CBI has emerged as a brand for justice".

He further stated that corruption is the biggest roadblock to democracy and justice and that it is CBI's key responsibility to free India from the clutches of corruption.

He inaugurated the newly constructed office complexes of the CBI in Shillong, Pune, and Nagpur and also established the agency's Twitter account.

CBI Gave Faith To People: Speaking at the diamond jubilee celebrations of CBI, PM Modi said, "CBI has given faith to people through its work and techniques. Even today, when a case remains unsolved, there are demands it should be handed over to the CBI. Building a developed India is not possible without professional and efficient institutions, CBI, therefore, has a huge responsibility."

Multidimensional And Multidisciplinary Investigation Agency: Modi said, "CBI has built its image as a multidimensional and multidisciplinary investigation agency. From bank frauds to crimes related to wildlife, the scope of CBI has widened a lot."

Action Against Black Money Initiated: The Prime Minister said that the action against black money and benami properties have already been initiated. “We have already initiated action against black money and benami properties on mission mode. Besides the corrupt, we are also fighting against the causes of corruption. This government does not lack the political will to fight corruption,” he added.

Innovative Ways To Fight Cybercrimes: While speaking at the event, PM Modi stated, “It’s true that crimes, today, are becoming global due to modern technologies. But it’s also true that these technologies only can give solutions to these issues. We need to further intensify the usage of forensic science in investigations. We must find innovative ways to deal with cybercrimes. Tech-enabled entrepreneurs and youngsters have a great role to play in this.”

Primary Goal To Nurture People’s Belief In System: Mentioning that no corrupt person should be spared, the Prime Minister said: “There had been the times of disbelief and policy paralysis in the nation. But since 2014, our primary goal has been to reinstate, nurture and strengthen people’s belief in the system.”
