India Records Over 8K Fresh Covid-19 Cases For Third Straight Day; Total Tally Nears 2 Lakh
As India is unlocking its economic activities in a phased manner, the total cases count has inched closer to 2-lakh mark. Health Ministry on Monday said that recovery rate of India has been improving.
New Delhi: The number of fresh Covid-19 cases in India remained above the 8,000-mark for the third straight day on Tuesday, pushing the total nationwide tally near to a grim 2 lakh- mark, making the situation precarious as the country is unlocking its economic activities. As per the Union Health Ministry, 8,171 new COVID-19 cases in India took the total tally to 1,98,706. The total number of fatalities in the country has soared past 5500-mark.
204 deaths were reported across the country within last 24 hours, the health ministry said. The total cases count is inclusive of 97,581 active cases, 95,526 cured or discharged or migrated patients and 5,598 deaths.
Cases in Maharashtra have crossed 70,000 including over 30,000 recovered while Tamil Nadu the tally jumped to 23,495. National capital Delhi has also breached the 20,000 border in terms of total cases.
The Health Ministry on Monday said that recovery rate has been improving and stands at 48.19 per cent now, whereas the rate of fatality has seen a steady decline to reach 2.83 per cent.
India at 7th position in terms of Covid-19 cases:
With a rapid rise in fresh cases count everyday, India has jumped two positions up to seventh position in terms of Covid-19 cases. The highest number of cases India has recorded so far is 8,392, which was reported on Monday.
India has now surpassed the number of cases in France & Germany. The United States continues to remain the worst-hit country with 1,859,323 total Covid-19 cases and 106,925 fatalities across the country.
