Corona Delta Variant: Know How Badly Can Delta Variant Infect Your Body

The vaccine is being considered the biggest weapon against corona infection. Yet some people think that the vaccine is not effective on delta variants of the corona.

New Delhi: The delta variant of corona continues to be a source of concern for the whole world, including India. The delta variant of the coronavirus is more serious than other variants. More than 31.7 million people in India have been infected with corona so far. However, most people have become infection-free. But more than four million people are still infected. Most of these cases are delta variants of coronavirus. There is some confusion among people about delta variants that we would like to address here.

Does the vaccine work on a person infected with the delta variant?

The vaccine is being considered the biggest weapon against corona infection. Yet some people think that the vaccine is not effective on delta variants of the corona. This is a myth. All vaccines are effective against variants of the corona. According to a study conducted by ICMR, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin (BBV152) is effective against delta plus (AY.1) variants of coronavirus. ICMR's study shows that the Covaxin is effective against delta, delta AY.1, and B.1.617.3 variants.

India Biotech, while completing its final analysis of Covaxin efficacy from the third phase of tests on July 3, said the effectiveness of Covaxin against Covid was 77.8 percent and 65.2 percent against the B1.617.2 delta variant.

Does the delta variant not spread after taking the vaccine?

Delta variants of corona can spread easily like smallpox. A U.S. report says that people who have taken all doses of the vaccine can spread delta variants as much as people without vaccination. People who have taken the vaccine have the same presence of viruses in their noses and throat as those who do not take the vaccine.

Delta variant spreads more than viruses that cause sars, ebola, normal cold, seasonal flu, and smallpox. It is contagious like the smallpox . This variant can cause serious danger, hence appropriate steps should be taken to keep it in check.

3 times lower risk of infection after full vaccination
People who take two doses of the vaccine are three times less likely to be exposed to covid infection than non-vaccinated people. This has been claimed in a research. The research was conducted on about 98,233 people led by Researchers of Imperial College London. People who were not vaccinated showed a three-fold higher spread of infection from 0.4 percent to 1.21 percent than those receiving both doses of the covid vaccine.
