Convoys Of JP Nadda, Kailash Vijavargiya Attacked In West Bengal, TMC Calls It 'People’s Revolt'

Alleging TMC for the attack, JP Nadda said that Mamata’s Bengal has become a state of intolerance and lawlessness, and he was there by the grace of Maa Durga.

Kolkata: Convoys of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda and General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya were attacked in West Bengal on Thursday as the two leaders were on their way to Diamond Harbour to meet party workers for the upcoming Bengal assembly elections in 2021. ALSO READ | JP Nadda's Bengal Visit: BJP Alleges ‘Serious’ Security Lapses During Nadda's State Visit, Dilip Ghosh Writes To Amit Shah Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh, after the incident, accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers of pelting stones on JP Nadda’s convoy. “On our way to Diamond Harbour, TMC supporters blocked the road and pelted Naddaji's vehicle and other cars in the convoy with stones. This only shows the true colour of the TMC,” he said. Accusing TMC for the attack, JP Nadda said that Mamata’s Bengal has become a state of intolerance and lawlessness and he was there by the grace of Maa Durga. "The sights that I got to see on my way to this event shows how Mamata's Bengal has become a state of intolerance and lawlessness. I am here by the grace of Maa Durga. I assure you that this Govt will not last for too long and we will end this Gunda raj,” Nadda said. "BJP is bringing outsiders into the state and they do not even inform the state government while doing so,” he said. Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoy was also attacked on Thursday and stones were hurled at his vehicle. Vijayvargiya later shared a video on his official Twitter handle which showed people pelting stones at his vehicle. “I have been injured in this attack. The party president's car was also attacked. We strongly condemn it. In the presence of police, goons attacked us. It felt as if we were not in our own country,” Vijayvargiya told the media. On Thursday, while the BJP leaders were on their way towards Diamond Harbour, protestors attempted to block the road to stop Nadda’s convoy from passing and pelted stones at the vehicle. The local police, following the attack, managed to escort the vehicles out of the area. Reacting to the allegations, TMC leader Madan Mitra denied for any involvement and called it “People’s revolt” Further, TMC minister Farhid Hakim said that BJP brings outsiders into the state and do not even inform the state government. The state of West Bengal is due for assembly elections next year, Nadda is on a two-day visit to Kolkata as the saffron party has begun it’s campaigning.
