BHOPAL: Months after being accorded the 'Minister of State' (MoS) status by the Madhya Pradesh government, Computer Baba, a religious guru, has resigned from his post on Monday. Computer Baba, whose real name is Namdeo Das Tyagi, has also accused chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan of not listening to his proposals on "condition of cows" and "illegal mining at river Narmada".
"I discussed the condition of cows and illegal mining at river Narmada but I wasn't allowed to do anything. I could not put forth the thoughts of the saints before the government, therefore, I don't want to be a part of such government," ANI quoted Computer Baba as saying.
He said during his 'tenure', he felt that Chouhan was opposed to religion.
"We have a system where all saints sit together and decide things. They said that I couldn't make Shivraj government do anything. I think they're right," he said. "It appeared to me that Shivraj was opposed to religion and doesn't want to work for it. So I resigned," he added.
On March 31, the BJP government in MP accorded the MoS status to five Hindu religious leaders - Narmadanand Maharaj, Hariharanand Maharaj, Computer Baba, Bhayyu Maharaj and Pandit Yogendra Mahant. Computer Baba and four other religious leaders, were appointed members of the 'Janjagrukta Abhiyan Samiti' (Public Awareness Campaign Committee)- set up for conservation of the Narmada river by the Madhya Pradesh government. The opposition Congress had then dubbed the decision to appoint religious gurus as MoS as the BJP's attempt to exploit the respect these religious leaders enjoy in the society.I discussed the condition of cows & illegal mining at river Narmada but I wasn't allowed to do anything.
