Clashes Break Out Between Shiv Sena & BJP In Maharashtra Over Narayan Rane's 'Tight Slap' Remark

Clashes emerged between Shiv Sena and BJP workers over Union Minister Narayan Rane's statement against Uddhav Thackeray.

New Delhi: Violent clashes broke out between activists of the ruling Shiv Sena and its youth outfit Yuva Sena and BJP workers outside Union Minister Narayan Rane's residence on Tuesday afternoon. Shiv Sena workers are furious over Narayan Rane's objectionable remarks against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.

Meanwhile, a police team has been sent to arrest Rane, against whom at least two FIRs have been lodged so far over the issue.

A group of Shiv Sena workers also pelted stones at the BJP office in Nashik and chanted slogans against Narayan Rane.

Later, police had to act against and prevent a few Sena supporters from running towards Rane’s house, even as BJP workers tried to force themselves in.

Narayan Rane's son Nitesh Rane had earlier claimed on Twitter that Yuva Sena leaders were planning to create chaos and violence outside their Juhu residence. However, Yuva Sena leader Varun Sardesai has said that they are angry over insulting remarks made by Narayan Rane for CM Uddhav Thackeray but they have not asked the activists to gather and protest, the leaders have come on their own.

Pune Police and Nashik cyber police have also registered FIRs following a complaint by Yuva Sena, for using objectionable language against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Monday.

What did Narayan Rane say against Uddhav Thackeray?

During his Jan Ashirvad Yatra in Raigad Union minister Narayan Rane said that he wants to “give a tight slap” to Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray as the latter allegedly forgot the year when Indian got independence during his August 15 address to citizens.

Rane claimed that Thackeray had to check the Independence day year with his leaders midway during the speech that day.

“It is shameful that the chief minister does not know the year of independence. He leaned back to enquire about the count of years of independence during his speech. Had I been there, I would have given him a tight slap,” Rane said
