Personally A Proponent Of Ayurveda, Vegan From 5 Months Says CJI As SC Gets AYUSH Centre

The CJI further said that he woke up at 3.30 AM today to do Yoga and has been following a completely vegan diet for the last five months.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday inaugurated an AYUSH Holistic Wellness Centre at the Supreme Court premises for judges and their immediate families and court staff and said that he has personally been a proponent of Ayurveda.

Speaking to the media at the inauguration, the CJI said that it is a very satisfying moment for him. "I have been working on this ever since I took over as CJI. I am personally a proponent of Ayurveda and holistic lifestyle,” the CJI told ANI.

He further said “I am deeply grateful to all the doctors... to AYUSH... They have a wonderful facility at Saket. But we are bringing this now to the Supreme Court."

The CJI also said that there are over 2000 staff members along with all the 34 judges in the Supreme Court, who carry a tremendous stress of the daily work which makes it important to look at a holistic pattern of living for not just the judges and their immediate families but also the staff members.

“Through the staff we can propagate this message for the rest of the country on the benefits of this time-honoured tradition of Ayurveda,” he added.

Sharing from his own personal experience the CJI said that he did 'Panchkarma' about a year ago and is looking forward to doing some 'Panchkarma' now at the turn of the season.

Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic treatment program to detox and rejuvenate the body, mind, and consciousness. It is done individually for each person with their specific constitution and specific disorder in mind, thus it requires close observation and supervision.

The CJI further said that he woke up at 3.30 AM today to do Yoga and has been following a completely vegan diet for the last five months. The CJI emphasised on the importance of a holistic pattern of life which begins with what one eats.
