Chhattisgarh: Lightning Strike Leaves 3 Killed, 9 Wounded In Jashpur District

According to authorities, three people were killed and nine others were injured in a lightning strike in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district on Sunday.

New Delhi: Three people were killed and nine others were injured in a lightning strike in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district on Sunday, according to authorities. According to an official, the incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. in Burjudih hamlet, which is located 400 kilometres from the state capital Raipur, news agency PTI reported.

As per preliminary information, lightning struck a small eatery in the weekly market of the village that left 12 people injured. Three of them, including the 12-year-old daughter of the eatery's owner, died in a hospital in Shankargarh in neighbouring Balrampur district," Jashpur Additional Superintendent of Police Pratibha Pandey told PTI.

According to sources, one of the injured was sent to Ambikapur hospital owing to his severe condition.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel asked authorities to pay Rs 4 lakh each to the deceased's family under RBC (Revenue Book Circular) regulations, according to a government release, PTI reported.

He also directed officials to guarantee that the injured receive the finest medical care possible, according to the report.
