Caught On Camera: MP Driver Drags Traffic Cop On Car Bonnet For 4 Km To Avoid Challan

The police had to surround the fast car in order to halt it and catch the driver, the officials stated.

A traffic police officer was taken for a ride while perched perilously on the bonnet of a car after he stopped the driver for chatting on the phone in Madhya Pradesh's Indore city on Monday, according to the authorities, news agency PTI reported.

According to an official, the incident occurred at the Satya Sai crossroads, when traffic head constable Shiv Singh Chouhan (50) waved down the automobile after witnessing the driver talking on his phone while driving.

When he was requested to pay a fine, the accused became so enraged that he refused to stop the car for almost 4 kilometres, even though the policeman leaped on the bonnet and hung on precariously, he said.

The police had to surround the fast car in order to halt it and catch the driver, the officials stated.

According to Lasudia police station sub-inspector RS Dandotia, the accused motorist was arrested under sections 279 (rash driving), 332 (voluntarily inflicting harm to an on-duty public official), and other applicable provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

He further stated that a handgun and a revolver were confiscated from the accused, a native of Gwalior.

"The accused has claimed that these weapons are licensed and we are probing it," the official was quoted by PTI in its report.

“While on duty at Satya Sai Square, I stopped a car as the driver was talking on the mobile phone while driving. When I told him that he would have to pay a fine for breaking the rule, he refused and threatened to run me over," Head Constable Chouhan said.

Chouhan stated that as the accused began driving the car, he climbed on the bonnet, but the latter did not stop for around 4 kilometres until the police intercepted and forced the vehicle to stop near Lasudia police station.

“The accused tried to make me fall off by applying the brakes suddenly. He also drove the car very close to other vehicles on the road, but I held on tightly," Chouhan said.
