BSF Troops Intercept Drone At Low Altitude In Punjab's Ferozpur Border Area

Senior officers have arrived in the region and are overseeing the search operation, according to a senior BSF officer.

New Delhi: BSF personnel intercepted a hexacopter (drone) flying at a low altitude in Punjab's Ferozpur border sector on Friday night. It was made in China and crossed into Indian borders from Pakistan.

At Amarkot in the Ferozepur sector, Punjab, BSF forces discovered and downed a drone at a distance of around 300 metres from the IB and 150 metres from the B S Fence.

Earlier, on the night of June 26-27, two Indian Air Force personnel were injured when two explosive devices were dropped from a drone on the IAF station in Jammu. The IAF station is located 14-15 kilometres from Pakistan's international border.

Following the incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had directed border guarding forces to map the border areas and identify weak spots.

After the attack, the border guarding troops performed massive drills in both the eastern and western border areas to enhance the security grid.
