'Brave Martyrs': PM Modi, Prez Murmu & Other Pay Homage To Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Victims

On the anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre PM Modi, President Murmu paid respects to those who were killed in the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to those who were killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, on Saturday. On April 13, 1919 hundreds of peaceful protestors were shot at indiscriminately by the British forces in Punjab's Amritsar.

"On behalf of my family members across the country, I pay my deepest respects to all the brave martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre," PM Modi wrote on X.

Similarly, President Droupadi Murmu paid tributes to the people who sacrificed their lives for the country in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and said the spirit of patriotism of those martyrs will keep inspiring the coming generations.

"My heartfelt tribute to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for the motherland in Jallianwala Bagh! The countrymen will always be indebted to all those great souls who sacrificed their lives for swaraj. I am sure that the spirit of patriotism of those martyrs will always inspire the coming generations," the president said in a post in Hindi on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the Jallianwala Bagh “is a living symbol of the cruelty and inhumanity of the British rule”.

He posted on X in Hindi, "Tributes to the brave martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh who made an invaluable contribution to the country's freedom movement.

"Jallianwala Bagh is a living symbol of the cruelty and inhumanity of the British rule. This massacre awakened the revolutionary flame hidden in the hearts of the countrymen and made the freedom movement a struggle of the people. The lives of the self-respecting people of Jallianwala Bagh are an eternal source of inspiration for sacrifice and dedication for the nation first," he added

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he salutes the supreme courage and sacrifice of the martyrs. 

"Remembering the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar who were massacred on this day in 1919. I salute their supreme courage and sacrifice. Their sacrifice will always be remembered" he posted on X.
