BJP Leader Uma Bharti Tests Positive For Coronavirus After Kedarnath-Badrinath Visit; Says "Driver Was Infected"

BJP leader Uma Bharti has quarantined herself at a place between Haridwar and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand where she is getting treatment.

Days after visit to the Kedarnath and Badrinath shrine, former Union Minister Uma Bharti has been found to be infected with novel Coronavirus. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader took to her social media account to inform the same. She further mentioned that she has quarantined herself at a place between Haridwar and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand where she is getting treatment. The former minister also requested people who came in her contact to get themselves tested and follow protocols. "I am quarantined at Vande Mataram Kunj, that lies between Haridwar and Rishikesh. I will get another Covid test done again after four days and if the situation remains the same, will consult doctors," Uma Bharti said in Hindi in a Twitter post. It may be mentioned that Bharti had recently paid a visit to the Kedarnath shrine on Monday (September 21) where she offered prayers following all safety norms. After this, the leader visited Badrinath shrine in Chamoli district on September 24. The leader further clarified that the news headlines claiming that she contracted the virus after coming in contact with the priests are not true. Uma Bharti said that the priests and saints should not be blamed because she contracted the virus from her driver. "My driver was Covid-19 positive and we did not know about it, I might have contracted the virus from him. I followed all norms of safety and social distancing, so the priests should not be blamed," the leader said.
