BJP Councillor Manish Shukla Shot Dead In West Bengal, Party Blames TMC
BJP leader Manish Shukla was shot dead in West Bengal. The party has blamed the Trinamool Congress for the incident.
New Delhi: BJP councillor Manish Shukla was shot dead on Sunday night near Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district. According to media reports, two bike-borne assailants attacked Shukla on BT Road, near a police station. Two other party workers who tried to save Shukla also sustained injuries during the attack. Soon after the attack, Shukla was rushed to a private hospital on EM Bypass where he was declared dead.

Eyewitness reports say that the perpetrators were on motorcycles and that their faces were covered with masks and helmets. Shukla had Switched to BJP last year. The party has blamed Trinamool Congress (TMC)for the incident.
"It is shameful that the TMC has now started politics of annihilation of political opponents. We don't have any faith in local police as this happened in front of the police station. We want a CBI inquiry," said BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.
Sources said that a central team of the BJP, comprising general secretary Sanjay Singh, MPs Arjun Singh, Saumitra Khan, Jagannath Sarkar, and Shanku Deb Panda will be visiting Shukla's residence today. PTI report says that the BJP has called a 12-hour bandh in Barrackpore area on Monday in protest against the incident.
Meanwhile, Senior TMC leader Nirmal Ghosh said the incident was a result of infighting within the BJP and allegations against his party were baseless.
