Bihar Lockdown 4: Nitish Govt Extends Lockdown Till June 8
Though Bihar is witnessing a drop in the number of covid cases, the Nitish government has announced extension of lockdown for another week to improve the situation in the state.
Patna: After much contemplation and assessment, it was announced that Bihar will extend the lockdown restrictions which were imposed due to surge in the covid cases in the state for another week. In a meeting of Crisis Management Group chaired by Chief Secretary Tripurari Sharan conducted on Monday, it was announced that Bihar will continue to remain under lockdown for 1 more week.
The first lockdown in Bihar was imposed from May 5th and was extended till May 15th. Thereafter the lockdown was extended from 16th of May to 25th of May and again from 26th of May till 1st of June. Both times, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar decided to increase the lockdown after consultations with ministers and district officials to control the spread of the virus.
"In view of the Covid-19 situation, it has been decided to extend the lockdown by one week. But an additional exemption is being given for trade. Everyone should wear masks and maintain social distance," Kumar tweeted in Hindi.
The state government also said that some relaxation will be given to traders and businessmen. The daily covid infections continue to decline in Bihar as the state reported cases below the 1500 mark for the second consecutive day.
1475 people tested positive for the deadly Coronaivirus which was the lowest count in 54 days and 52 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
