Old Guard Vs Young Gun In Bihar: Tejashwi, Chirag & Pushpam Attack Nitish Kumar Over ‘Retirement’ Statement

During the final phase polling, Chirag, Tejashwi and Pushpam trained guns at CM Kumar saying that it’s time for him to go back to pavilion.

Bihar Elections: As Bihar stepped out to vote for the third and last phase of the high-stake election, the show seemed to take an ‘old guard vs young gun,’ turn in the state as 69-year-old Nitish Kumar is pitched against young leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Chirag Paswan and Pushpam Priya. Their statements came after Kumar in a rally said that this is the last election that he is contesting. LJP chief Chirag Paswan before the polling said that the Nitish Kumar will never become the Chief Miniser. “The way people are connecting with 'Bihar first, Bihari first', I believe our performance will be good in this phase too. One thing is very clear Nitish Kumar Ji will never become the CM,” he said. "Sahab says this is his last election. He refused to give an account for his last five years and has already declared that he has no intention of doing so next time. Don’t elect a person who will not come to you for blessings tomorrow. There will be no sahab or JDU in the next election. Who will you then question," Paswan tweeted. RJD Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, who has emerged as the principal challenger to Kumar, nearly four decades his senior, at the young age of 31, reacted with glee "we stand vindicated. We had been saying all along that Nitish Kumar is tired and no longer able to govern Bihar. He would do well to retire". Plural party’s chief ministerial candidate Pushpam Priya has also said that Nitish Kumar shouldn’t have contested this election as well as it is high time for him to introspect. Talking to ABP News, he said that Kumar government was given 15 years and that is a good amount of time. Kumar had announced his retirement from politics on Thursday saying that this would be his last elections. While addressing a rally in Purnia, the three-time CM and Janta Dal-United (JDU) chief said, “Today is the last day for the election campaign, day after tomorrow is the voting day and this is my last election. All’s well that ends well.”
