Bengali Actor Abhishek Chatterjee Passes Away At 58, CM Mamata Expresses Grief
"Abhishek was talented and versatile in his performances, and we shall miss him," Mamata Banerjee expressed condolences over the Bengali actor's death.
New Delhi: Bengali actor Abhishek Chatterjee died of a heart attack in Kolkata in the wee hours of Thursday. He was 58. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mourned his death.
Banerjee took to Twitter and expressed grief over the passing away of the renowned actor and said, "Sad to know of the untimely demise of our young actor Abhishek Chatterjee. Abhishek was talented and versatile in his performances, and we shall miss him. It is a great loss for TV serials and our film industry. My condolences to his family and friends.."
According to a report by ABP Ananda, Abhishek fell ill while he was shooting for a reality show on Wednesday. He returned home and had his dinner, after which he suffered chest pain and his family members found him dead on Thursday morning.
Abhishek Chatterjee was born on April 30, 1984. He started his career in cinema in 1986 with the film 'Pathbhola' by Tarun Majumdar. Some of his most well-known movies are Bariwali and Dahan--both directed by Rituparna Sengupta. His commercial successes include Sangharsho, Lathi, Bhai Amar Bhai. He left a mark not only on the silver screen but on the small screen as well.
Chatterjee acted on television for the last few years. His performances in serials like 'Ichchenadi', 'Pita', 'Apur Sangsa', 'Andarmahal', 'Kusum Dola', 'Fagun Boo', 'Kharakuto' won the hearts of the viewers. He was recently filming a reality show called Ismart Jodi anchored by Jeet. The entertainment world of Bengal mourned the sudden news of his death.
