The Bangle seller who was thrashed in public in Indore has been booked for harassing a girl and forging identification cards.

The bangle seller, Tasleem Ali was beaten up by the mob for allegedly molesting a girl on the pretext of selling bangles and now a case has been registered against him for the same.

The Superintendent of Indore Police Ashutosh Bagri said, "The bangle seller (who was thrashed) was in possession of two Aadhaar cards -- bearing the name of Tasleem s/o Mohar Ali and Asleem s/o Mor Singh. He had also a half-burnt voter ID identifying him as the son of Mohan Singh", quoted ANI.

The video of the bangle seller Taslim being beaten up went viral on social media, in which unidentified men can be seen lynching him in full public view in the Banganga area of Indore. People thrashing him can be heard using language and religious slurs. They empty his bag of bangles, inviting onlookers to help themselves. A case was filed after many protested outside the police station after the video went viral on social media.

In the case of lynching the bangle seller, police have filed a case under relevant sections of robbery and assault against unknown persons. The man has alleged that he was robbed of Rs 10,000 by his assailants during the incident.

After Sunday morning's attack, the state's Home Minister Narottam Mishra said, "If a man hides his name, caste and religion then bitterness comes in," adding that the incident should not be given "communal colour".

"He was using a Hindu name, though he belonged to a different community. He also had two different Aadhaar cards... he was selling bangles which our daughters wear and apply henna during sawan (monsoon)... that's how the altercation started," the minister said.
