At -4.8 Degree Celsius, Srinagar Records Coldest Night Of Season: Drass At -18.6

The ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 11.0 degrees Celsius last night — down from the previous night's minus 10.2 degrees Celsius, he said.

Jammu & Kashmir: With the winter setting in fast, Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season as mercury plummeted across Kashmir valley and Ladakh region. According to weather office, minimum temperature settled at minus 4.8 degrees Celsius in Srinagar — 1.6 degrees down from minus 3.2 degree Celsius the previous night. The ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 11.0 degrees Celsius last night — down from the previous night's minus 10.2 degrees Celsius, he said. Gulmarg, in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, was the coldest recorded place in the valley, he added. The night temperature at Pahalgam resort, which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath yatra in south Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 7.4 degrees Celsius as against minus 5.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, he said. Qazigund — the gateway town to the valley in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius — decrease of 0.7 degree from minus 2.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Kokernag town, also in south, recorded a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara, in north, registered a minimum temperature of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius. He said Leh town, in the Ladakh Union territory, recorded a low of minus 14.8 degrees Celsius, while Drass was the coldest at minus 18.6. Kargil too recorded a low of minus 14.6 Celsius. Kashmir Weather has forecast mainly dry weather till 23rd December.
