VIDEO: Andhra Engineering Student Hits Teacher With Sandal For Confiscating Mobile Phone

The altercation reportedly began when the teacher noticed the student using her phone during class and confiscated the device.

A disturbing incident has unfolded at Raghu Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district, where a second-year engineering student physically assaulted a teacher with a slipper following a dispute over a confiscated mobile phone.

The altercation reportedly began when the teacher noticed the student using her phone during class and confiscated the device. Enraged, the student demanded Rs 12,000 in return for the phone, leading to a verbal altercation that escalated into physical violence. In a shocking turn, the student is seen in a viral video striking the teacher with a slipper, an act that has triggered widespread condemnation on social media.

The video, widely shared online, has reignited debates around student discipline, teacher-student relationships, and respect for educators in academic institutions.

Online Reactions: A Divided Debate

Social media users have expressed outrage over the incident. One user on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, "Nowadays, the younger generation doesn’t respect gurus and teachers like before they see them more like enemies than guides. At the same time, many teachers have also changed, they don’t treat students with the same care and dedication, as everything has become money-minded."

Others demanded strict disciplinary measures. “Students who are so angry should be suspended. Using foul language and resorting to violence must not be tolerated. Immediate action is needed,” one user wrote.

However, the incident has also seen some support for the student. One user questioned the teacher's actions, asking, “Why did the teacher take the girl student’s mobile phone in the first place?”

College Yet to Respond

As of now, college authorities have not issued an official statement. It is expected that disciplinary proceedings will follow as the administration investigates the incident.
