BJP will hold the meeting of the legislative party on March 24, followed by UP CM oath-taking on March 25
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Lucknow on March 23 ahead of Yogi Adityanath's swearing-in ceremony to become the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second term.
BJP will hold the meeting of the legislative party on March 24, followed by UP CM oath-taking on March 25, an ANI report quoted BJP sources. The meeting is to be held to formally elect CM-designate Yogi Adityanath as the state's legislature party leader.
The grand swearing-in ceremony is expected to be attended by a galaxy of senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP national president J P Nadda, besides other central ministers.
After leading the BJP to a thumping victory in the just-concluded elections, Adityanath will lead the country's most populous and politically crucial state for the second time consecutively as its chief minister.
Union Home Minister Shah and former Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das have been made observer and co-observer respectively for the government formation in Uttar Pradesh.
This is the first time in decades when a political party retained power for a second consecutive term in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath led the BJP to victory by winning 255 of 403 seats in the Legislative Assembly. BJP's main challenger, the Samajwadi Party won 111 seats.
