New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah rubbished the ongoing rumours over BJP toll-free number provided for public to express support to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Rumours were rife on social media that a toll-free number launched by the BJP to garner support for the CAA was linked to Netflix , a streaming service. Addressing a meeting of Delhi BJP workers, Amit Shah slammed rumours that the number was linked to Netflix. This number belongs to the BJP, he said. “Since yesterday rumours are being spread that the number belongs to some channel called, Netflix. I would like to clarify that the number never belonged to Netflix rather it is BJP's toll free number,” Shah said. His clarification comes in the wake of the social media posts claiming that giving calls at the number would activate a free six-month subscription to the online video streaming portal Netflix. Netflix on Saturday itself denied the reports and said it was not offering any free subscription.
While addressing the BJP workers, Shah accused Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of instigating "riots" by "misleading" people on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and sought to reassure Muslims, saying the law has no provision about taking away citizenship of minorities.
