Bhagwat Mann Has Time For Kejriwal, But Not For Punjab: Amit Shah Targets AAP In Gurdaspur

While addressing the rally in Gurdaspur, Amit Shah hit out at the AAP government in Punjab and highlighted various achievements of the BJP-led government at the Centre.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Sunday held a rally in Punjab's Gurdaspur as part of an outreach programme of his party. He hit out at the AAP government in Punjab remarking that Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann has time for his Delhi counterpart Kejriwal but not for the people of Punjab. According to the Home Minister, Punjab's law and order went "from bad to worse as CM Mann spends all his time touring with Arvind Kejriwal".

"Bhagwat Mann has time for Kejriwal but not for the people of Punjab. The people of Punjab are feeling insecure. Law and order have degraded in the state. The people (of Punjab) will teach a lesson for this," he remarked.

"Bhagwant Mann has only prioritised on advertising for Arvind Kejriwal using taxpayers' money,” said Shah while addressing the public meeting in Gurdaspur.

While accusing AAP of making empty promises, Shah questioned the Punjab government about its promise to give Rs 1,000 a month to women in Punjab.

While addressing the rally, Shah highlighted various achievements of the party-led government at the Centre.

Notably, Shah will also address a rally in Haryana's Sirsa on Sunday as part of his party's public outreach ‘Sampark Se Samarthan’ to mark the completion of nine years of the Narendra Modi government.

Under the one-month-long ‘Maha Jan Sampark’ programme which started on June 1, the party is holding rallies, meeting prominent persons, and reaching out to beneficiaries of central schemes.

“Party workers and leaders will go door-to-door to highlight the achievements of the Centre. Welfare schemes for the poor, infrastructure development, education, health, foreign policy, defence, in all areas the Modi government has taken great strides and set India on the path of becoming a developed nation,” Union Minister Kailash Choudhary had told reporters.

A Punjab Police official said that all security arrangements have been made for the rally in Gurdaspur.

For Shah's visit to Sirsa in Haryana, more than 30 senior police officers, including 15 IPS officers, would be overseeing the security, official sources said.

"Adequate arrangements related to security have been made," Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Sirsa, Ajaib Singh, said on Saturday.

Haryana Director General of Police PK Agrawal, along with senior officers, has reviewed the security arrangements in Sirsa.
