Air Force's Jaguar Fighter Jet Crashes In Gujarat's Jamnagar, 1 Pilot Safe, Search On For Another

An Indian Air Force Jaguar fighter jet crashed in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on Wednesday, resulting in one pilot being rescued and another still missing. The cause of the crash is unknown.

A Jaguar fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed in Gujarat's Jamnagar on Wednesday, sources told ABPLive. Prem Sukh Delu, SP Jamnagar, speaking to news agency ANI, said that there were two pilots in the (Jaguar) trainer aircraft of the Air Force. One has been rescued and taken to the hospital. The operations are underway to rescue the other pilot.

The fighter jet crashed in an open field at Suvarda village, nearly 12km from Jamnagar city and caught fire, said District SP Premsukh Delu. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

"While one pilot safely ejected before the crash, another one is still missing. The aircraft caught fire after the crash landing. Police and firefighters have rushed to the spot and started searching for the missing pilot," said Delu.

The videos from the spot, in Suvarda village, reportedly 12 km from Jamnagar, showed what appeared to be a field on fire with the cockpit of the crashed plane and its tail—which can be seen lying in different areas—also burning.

Ketan Thakkar, the collector of Jamnagar, said that the aircraft of the Air Force has crashed and the fire team present at the spot has doused the fire.

"An aircraft of the Air Force has crashed in the district of Jamnagar. One pilot has been rescued and shifted to hospital. The fire team is present at the spot and has doused the fire. Air Force team, fire team, Police and other teams are present here for the rescue...The civilian area has not been affected...The aircraft crashed in an open ground...," he said as quoted by news agency ANI.
