Delhi Election: AAP Manifesto Promises To Include ‘Deshbhakti’ In School Curriculum; Kejriwal Gives BJP 24 Hrs To Declare CM Face

Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said he is seeking votes in his name, saying all the votes for the AAP will go to Kejriwal.

Delhi assembly elections 2020: Four days before the polls in the national capital, Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal released the party manifesto. The manifesto promises quality education, health, clean water and 24-hour electricity to Delhiites, aside from speaking about all classes, including business, labourers, women, sikh, youth, and senior citizens.  Kejriwal also dared BJP to name its chief minister candidate for the February 8 assembly elections, saying he is ready for a debate with the saffron party's CM face. In a presser after releasing the party manifesto, Kejriwal attacked Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah saying it is the people in a democracy who elect government and not Shah. "Amit Shah is saying people should vote for the BJP and he will select the chief minister after the elections. In a democracy, people elect their chief minister. Shah cannot select the chief minister." He dared BJP to reveal its CM candidate with whom he wanted to have a debate. He said in a democracy, debate is very important. "I give time till 1 p.m. on Wednesday to the BJP for this." Kejriwal said people should know who will be the chief minister if BJP  wins elections, saying, "what if the BJP selected an uneducated chief minister for Delhi. That will be a cheating to the people." Kejriwal said he is seeking votes in his name, saying all the votes for the Aam Aadmi Party will go to Kejriwal. "People want to know where the votes to the BJP will go? People are asking who will be the BJP's face." Elaborating about the manifesto, Kejriwal said in the last five years, the Delhi government has spent a lot of time in improving the basic infrastructure. "We want to make Delhi a 21st Century city. We cannot do it alone but we need help of 2 crore people. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said as "28-point guarantee card", the manifesto promises doorstep delivery of ration, free pilgrimage to 10 lakh senior citizens and Rs 1 crore compensation to kin of a safai karamchari if he dies on duty. One of the key highlights of the manifesto was inclusion of deshbhakti (patriotism) in school curriculum, establishing English language and soft skills programmes for those who have already completed schooling. Delhi votes on February 8 and the counting of votes will take place three days later on February 11. (With additional information from Agencies)
