Congress' Pramod Tiwari Calls For INDIA Bloc To 'Remain Strong' After AAP's Exit

He affirmed the INDIA bloc's commitment to national interests despite AAP's departure after the Lok Sabha elections, citing disagreements over strategies and priorities, particularly concerning Delhi issues.

New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced its withdrawal from the INDIA bloc, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari on Saturday said that it remains necessary for the opposition alliance to be strong in order to save the nation from "religious polarisation".

He also said that the INDIA bloc will meet today to discuss various issues of national interest and will ensure that the country is not sold to benefit a few capitalists.

"To save this country from religious polarisation and falling into the hands of a few capitalists, it is essential for the INDIA alliance to be strong to defeat the NDA alliance. I don't know who is under what pressure or allegations - true or false - are being made, or what someone's compulsions are, but I do know that today there will be a meeting of the INDIA alliance on several issues of national interest. We will firmly ensure that attempts to sell India to a few capitalists don't happen," Tiwari told ANI.

"We will fight until our last breath to save the country, and if someone wants to back out weakly, we will say nothing," he added.

His remarks come after AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday stated that his party is no longer part of the INDIA alliance following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections. AAP and Congress had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi as part of the INDIA alliance. However, both parties contested separately in the Haryana and Delhi Legislative Assembly elections.

Speaking to ANI, Singh stated, "We have clarified our position that the INDIA alliance was there till the Lok Sabha elections. As far as the Parliament is concerned, we have always opposed all the wrong policies of the government. Currently, the issue for us is the way the homes and shops of people of Bihar, UP and Purvanchal are being bulldozed and destroyed. This is the issue we will raise in Parliament in the context of Delhi."

"We said that officially, the Aam Aadmi Party is not with the INDIA alliance as of today. Our alliance was for the Lok Sabha elections," he added. (ANI)
