7-Day Institutional Quarantine For Passengers Coming From 'At Risk' Countries In Maharashtra

The international passengers arriving from "high-risk" countries will have to undergo three RT-PCR tests in their 7-day quarantine. Many flights are expected to be canceled due to new guidelines.

The Maharashtra government, on Tuesday, said that all the international passengers coming from "at-risk" countries will have to undergo compulsory quarantine for seven days. Others passengers will have to undergo an RT-PCR test. These steps are being taken by the Maharashtra Health Department after the Omicron variant of Covid-19 started making headlines. 

It was also reported that the passengers will have to take three Covid-19 tests in the seven days of quarantine. The passengers also will have to pay for the quarantine at respective hotels. The new guidelines would be in effect immediately.

"The restrictions imposed by the Government of India guidelines dated November 28, 2021, as well as future restrictions if any, shall act as minimum restrictions to be imposed," read the order by the Maharashtra govt. 

According to the guidelines issued, the information of all the passengers coming on DCP Immigration and FRRO international flights will be collected from the countries they have traveled in the last 15 days and then that information will also be cross-checked. During this, if any passenger gives wrong information, then action will be taken against him under the relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Compulsory RT-PCR tests would be done at the airport of all passengers. Those passengers who are found positive will be shifted to a hospital immediately. For domestic travelers, a negative RT-PCR report 48 hours before the flight is required.
