56 Pakistani Among 186 Terrorists Killed In Jammu and Kashmir In 2022: DGP
The DGP also said that the number of youth joining terrorism in J&K has declined over the last few years due to the efforts made by the government and the security forces.
Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbagh Singh on Saturday said, 2022 was the most successful year as 186 terrorists, including 56 Pakistani nationals, were killed and 159 arrested in various operations carried out by security forces.
"In 2022, 56 Pakistanis among 186 terrorists killed, 159 arrested; it was most successful year in recent times," said the J&K DGP while speaking to the media in Jammu, reported news agency PTI.
He also said the police and other security agencies are moving in the right direction to achieve "zero terror" activities in the Union territory.
"146 Pakistan-created terror modules smashed in 2022, they were assigned to carry out targeted killings, grenade and IED attacks," the DGP said highlighting the success of the security forces.
He also said that the number of youth joining terrorism in J&K has declined over the last few years due to the efforts made by the government and the security forces.
"100 youths joined terrorism in J-K this year, which is also the lowest in many years. A majority of them were eliminated, while security forces are working to bring down the number of active terrorists to a two-digit figure which is presently a little more than 100," said the DGP.
Earlier in the day, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar took to Twitter and said more than 90 operations were carried out by the security forces in Kashmir in 2022 in which 172 terrorists were killed.
"During year 2022, total 93 successful encounters took place in Kashmir in which 172 terrorists including 42 foreign terrorists got neutralised," the ADGP wrote on Twitter.
He also said 26 security personnel, including 14 Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) personnel, were killed in terror attacks and encounters in the same year.
