19-Year-Old Meerut Girl Kills Self After Death Of Stray Dog She Used To Feed: Report
Gauri had cleared NEET this year and she was supposed to start counselling shortly at a college in Mumbai.
New Delhi: A 19-year-old girl from Meerut killed herself by jumping off a water tank after a stray dog she used to feed regularly got injured and died.
According to reports, the girl, Gauri Tyagi, had gone for a walk on Thursday and found that the dog had been hit by a vehicle. She brought it home and spoke to a vet over the phone. However, the dog was in severe pain and died.
Distraught, she refused to have dinner that evening and the following day, climbed a water tank 300m from her house, and jumped off. She succumbed to her injuries at a hospital later.

“Gauri used to live with her parents at Shraddhapuri colony in Kankarkhera area. Her father works in the petroleum sector and elder brother is an engineer. Gauri found a wounded stray dog on Thursday and brought it home. She also spoke to a vet over the phone. But the dog was in severe pain and died in front of her. Her grandmother and others consoled her. The next day at around 9.45am, Gauri fed the other strays and left home. A few local residents later found her lying in a pool of blood next to an over head water tank. They informed her family. Soon it was all over,” a report by TOI quoted a senior police officer as saying.
Police said that a team went to the site but the family said they did not want to take the matter forward.
