After PUBG announced its India subsidiary, fans have been left with one question: when will the game be back? The answer to the question seems uncertain as there are various reports stating how the game is seeking approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) which it is yet to receive.

Here is a round-up of what all has happened and what we know about the game's launch after its comeback was announced:
    • India Investment: The Indian subsidiary of PUBG has committed to hiring over 100 employees specialising in business, esports, and game development. Announcing the comeback, PUBG Corp revealed that it plans to make investments worth $100 million in India to develop the local video game, esports, entertainment, and IT industries with the help of its South Korean parent company Krafton, Inc.
    • India Specific Restrictions: Previously, there had also been concerns about the game being too addictive and hence adversely affecting the lives of teenagers who go on playing it for say 8 hours straight. So, to build a healthy gameplay environment, the game content will be tailored to suit local needs. There will be a feature to put up restrictions on game time to promote healthy gameplay habits for younger players.Several aspects will be customized for Indian gamers, such as the game now being set in a virtual simulation training ground, new characters automatically starting clothed, and green hit effects to reflect the virtual nature of the game.
    • Security Concerns: The company also plans to provide a secure and healthy environment with respect to gaming. To deal with privacy and data security-related concerns, PUBG said it will conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users' personally identifiable information to ensure security and safe data management.
    • Official Registration: PUBG's India subsidiary was registered by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on November 21 as a Bangalore based Private Company under the subcategory of 'Subsidiary of Foreign Company'. The details of the same were made available on the ministry's official website. PUBG Mobile India Release: Here Are 5 Things We Know About The India-Specific Game So Far
  • Hurdle: Now the game needs approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) as getting its Indian subsidiary registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is not going to enough to get an India launch. PUBG Corp. in its announcement showed a lot of enthusiasm and certainty over the game coming back but at this point, an official nod and confirmation about the same are being awaited by fans all over.
The viral gaming app PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) was among the 118 Chinese apps that were banned by the Indian government in September over national security concerns amid the border tensions with China.
