Good Old Retweet Button Is Back On Twitter! Netizens Welcome The Decision With Funniest Memes

Twitter is ending its experiment that encouraged users to quote tweet rather than retweet. Users have responded in hilarious ways after the decision to roll back the easy retweet button.

Retweets are back to normal and Twitter users couldn't be happier. The microblogging site, which had previously initiated the quote tweets which aimed to let people add their own words to the tweets they wish to retweet, was launched in October with an idea towards "encouraging everyone to consider why they are amplifying a Tweet, and brings more thoughts, reactions & perspectives to the conversation." But the platform said that was not to be found. Also Read|What Is Google One? Tech Giant Offers 10TB Storage At Rs 3,250 - All You Need To Know

In a series of tweets, the microblogging platform said that they did not achieve the desired result from this process as very few users added their own thoughts and words to the quoted tweets. The change was first brought on in October ahead of the 2020 US presidential election.

"We don’t believe that this happened, in practice. The use of Quote Tweets increased, but 45% of them included single-word affirmations and 70% had less than 25 characters," the platform said.

The company is now changing retweets back to the way they were in a move that has been warmly welcomed by users. News of the reversal has led to a number of memes and jokes flooding the microblogging platform. Take a look! Netizens also requested the platform to bring the edit feature. As Twitter users applaud the decision tell us what do you think about this!
