Finnish PM Marries Her Long-Time Partner, Know Their 16 Year-Old-Love Story
Marin and Raikkonen have been together for 16 years and have a 2 1/2-year-old daughter.
Even as the novel coronavirus outbreak has deferred a lot of important decisions of your life, Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Sunday announced the marriage with her long-time partner. The Prime Minister took the position as the head of government eight months back and broke the news of her wedding on Instagram account on Saturday by uploading a picture of the couple in their wedding outfits with a bunch of white flowers. Marin, 34, married her long-time boyfriend Markus Raikkonen as per the news agency AP.
Finland’s government mentioned the details on its website about the wedding that took place at Kesaranta, the prime minister’s official residence. The ceremony was attended by the couple's closest friends and family. The wedding was followed after the July 15 marriage of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The Finnish PM had to reschedule the ceremony several times owing to elections, then the coronavirus outbreak, and lastly the European Union summit.
The duo have been together for nearly 16 years and also have a 2 1/2-year-old daughter. The leader who is a Social Democrat is a strong proponent of environmental issues and quite popular on social media. She became Finland’s prime minister in December.
During her appointment, she was the world’s youngest serving head of government–a distinction until Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who came to power a few weeks later will turn 34 later this month.
In Finland, the Covid-19 outbreak has remained in control with few cases surging on a daily basis. Almost 7,400 infections have been reported in the country so far.
