Authorities Impose Strict Restrictions In Parts Of Kashmir In View Of Eid-Ul-Fitr
Authorities have decided to impose strict restrictions in most parts of Kashmir valley, particularly Srinagar, on Eid to prevent public movement amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak.
New Delhi: Authorities have decided to impose strict restrictions in most parts of Kashmir valley, particularly Srinagar, on Eid to prevent public movement amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak.
On Saturday afternoon, police vehicles fitted with public address systems went around the residential areas of the city and elsewhere in the valley announcing that restrictions under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were imposed and urged people to stay indoors.
The restrictions are continuing today also as Kashmir is observing Eid ul Fitr today.
Eid In Kerala & Karnataka:
Unlike other Indian states, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala & Karnataka are celebrating the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday, while other states will be celebrating it on Monday.
This year however, Eid is being marked in an usual way, with people under quarantine and cities under lockdown.
Muslim clerics on Friday in Kerala, said the moon had not been sighted. But the 30-day Ramadan was to end on Saturday, so the clerics declared that Eid-ul-Fitr in Kerala would be celebrated on Sunday.
Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in coastal districts of Karnataka on a subdued note at homes due to ban on mass gathering in mosques amid lockdown.
