Congress' Shama Mohamed Trolled By BJP Over ‘Mathematics Has Come Through Islam’ Remark: WATCH

Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed sparked controversy by claiming Islam introduced mathematics. This controversy follows Mohamed's previous remarks on Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma.

Congress leader and National Spokesperson Shama Mohamed stoked another controversy after she claimed that mathematics was introduced to the world by Islam. "Math has come through Islam," Mohamed told news agency ANI and also emphasised how Islam is progressive.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called the comments made by Grand Old Party leader absurd. "I think she has decided that Rahul Gandhi alone cannot make all the absurd statements in the Congress," BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya said, reacting to a post on X.

BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that many people in the Congress party could compete with Rahul Gandhi.

“Well Amit Malviya there are many in Congress who can give competition to Rahul Gandhi when it comes to absurd statements but have you noticed the eerie eloquent convenient silence of the “secular brigade" of Congress ecosystem when rabid radicals targeted Mohd Shami who put nation first? They can abuse Rohit Sharma for his “weight" – they say Hindu terror and Sanatan Samapt targeting the entire peaceful Hindu community but they can’t utter one single word on Islamic radicals because Votebank matters…," he wrote on X.

Shama's Remark On Rohit Sharma

The recent controversy comes after a massive row wherein Shama made a social media post and called the Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma “fat” and suggested that he needs to lose weight.

The post that she deleted after her party’s orders read, “Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had!”

Shama, in another post, compared Sharma to former captains of the Indian cricket team and called them a “mediocre” player and captain. “What is so world-class about him when compared to his predecessors? He is a mediocre captain as well as a mediocre player who got lucky to be the captain of India,” she said.

She later celebrated India’s victory over Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final and also lauded Rohit Sharma. "I am very, very happy today that India has won the semi-finals against Australia under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Very happy, very, very excited, and congratulations to Virat Kohli for scoring 84 runs and becoming the first player to score 1,000 runs in ICC knockouts. I am very excited and looking forward to the finals," she told news agency ANI.
