Chevrolet recalls Cruze for engine stalling issue

New Delhi: Chevrolet has issued a voluntary recall for its D-segment offering, the Chevrolet Cruze. The move affects cars manufactured between 2009 and 2011. The reason that's been given is that 'some vehicles have experienced loss of ignition or engine stall at low vehicle speeds'. The recall will focus on fixing this issue.  chevrolet0-min A press release issued by the manufacturer said that inspection and necessary repairs will take around an hour. Needless to mention, the entire exercise is free of charge, and Chevrolet will provide customers the option of a vehicle pick-up and drop. In case you own a Chevrolet Cruze, do get in touch with your service centre to check if your vehicle is affected. Markus Sternberg, vice president – aftersales, General Motors India, said, “We are committed to putting our customers at the centre of everything we do and providing safe, high-quality vehicles. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction. This is a voluntary recall and, as far as we are aware, does not affect the safety of the vehicle but we want to make sure that our customers experience the right performance from their vehicles." chevrolet0 (1)-min The Chevrolet Cruze goes up against the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, the Skoda Octavia, the Volkswagen Jetta and the brand-new Hyundai Elantra. Prices for the Cruze start at Rs 14.65 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 18.31 lakh for the top-spec automatic variant. Notably, the Chevy gets a sole 2.0-litre diesel engine that whips up a delicious 166PS of power and 360Nm of torque. In spite of being the most powerful diesel in its class, the Cruze has seen a sharp slump in sales of late. Chevrolet needs a makeover in the country and, in our opinion, the Cruze should lead the charge! Source: cardekho.com
