Delhi-NCR To Be Colder Than Himachal, Uttarakhand, 'Orange' Alert Issued For Sunday:

On Saturday, a severe cold wave crippled north India, including Delhi, with the minimum temperature in parts of the capital dropping to a bone-chilling 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The Safdarjung observatory, Delhi's primary weather station, recorded a minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius, which is lower than the minimum temperature in most regions in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, as well as certain hill stations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The minimum temperature at the Ridge weather station in downtown Delhi was freezing 1.5 degrees Celsius due to a severe cold blast. Only a few sites in Rajasthan reported a lower minimum temperature, including Vanasthali (1.7 degrees Celsius), Sikar (1 degree Celsius), Pilani (0.6 degree Celsius), and Churu (0 degree Celsius).

The weather service defines "extremely deep" fog as visibility between 0 and 50 metres, "dense" fog as visibility between 51 and 200 metres, "moderate" fog as visibility between 201 and 500 metres, and "shallow" fog as visibility between 501 and 1,000 metres.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi was colder than Chamba (5.8 degrees), Dalhousie (8.3 degrees), Dharamshala (9.2 degrees), Shimla (7.8 degrees), Hamirpur (3.9 degrees), Manali (4 degrees), Kangra (5.6 degrees), Solan (3 degrees), Dehradun (6 degrees), Mussoorie (8.1 degrees), and Nainital (5.8 degrees) (IMD).

The maximum temperature in several parts of the capital was at least seven degrees below average, indicating a very cold day.
