Charges Likely To Be Framed Against Senthil Balaji On Feb 16:
A city court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by former Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji to postpone the trial in a money laundering case filed against him by the Enforcement Directorate. Senthil Balaji's remand was extended by Principal Sessions Judge (PSJ) S Alli until February 16, after the prosecution produced him via video conferencing (VC) from central prison here.
"Accused was created through VC. Charges are due by February 16, 2024. Until then, the accused was brought forward in person. "The remand has been extended until then," the judge added.
The court does not find merit in deferring the trial as requested by the petitioner/accused, and this petition was filed to prolong the proceedings, which should be dismissed, the judge added.
