Two months after their wedding, the frogs were divorced in a bid to stop the heavy rains battering the state.

New Delhi: In a bizarre incident in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, two frogs were divorced months after they were married in a grand ceremony to please the rain Gods. However, two months after their wedding, they were divorced in a bid to stop the heavy rains battering the state. They were married by people on July 19 when drought-like conditions prevailed in Bhopal, with a belief that it would please the God of rains. But keeping in view the recent weather conditions of the state, the frogs had to be divorced . Members of Om Shiv Seva Shakti Mandal in Bhopal divorced the frog symbolically on Wednesday evening, amid chanting of mantras. Bhopal's lower settlements were flooded after heavy rains on Wednesday. To avoid any more rains in the region, members of Om Shiv Seva Shakti Mandal of Indrapuri area symbolically divorced the frogs on Wednesday evening. Flood-like situation is prevailing in several parts of Madhya Pradesh as unprecedented rainfall has been lashing the state since last 10-11 days. On Tuesday the India Meteorological Department had issued an alert for as many as 32 districts. According to state MET department sources, no respite can be expected from the rains in the next three to four days, however, the intensity of the rains may decrease.
