Amit Shah Says Cong, SP, BSP Alliance Can’t Defeat BJP: Report

Amit Shah was in Varanasi on Friday where he addressed organisational functionaries from across the state, starting off the party's preparations for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in a pre-poll meeting in Uttar Pradesh said that even if Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party came together, they won’t be able to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party, according to a report in Indian Express.

Amit Shah was in Varanasi on Friday where he addressed organisational functionaries from across the state, starting off the party's preparations for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The meeting included in-charges of 403 Assembly constituencies of the state and leaders of district and regional units.

The report further stated that the Shah applauded the Yogi Adityanath government for its handling of the pandemic, law and order and action against the mafia. He said that there was a mood of pro-incumbency this time, unlike previous years when governments experienced anti-incumbency.

In the meeting, Shah asked the party workers to work towards achieving more than 325 seats in the state, more than what the party won in the 2017 Assembly elections. He said that as the route for victory in Delhi passes through UP, the 2022 UP Assembly elections will be crucial for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The report quoted a party leader who said that they have been asked to register 100 new members at each booth and connect with the first-time voters.

The report further stated that Shah criticised SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav over his recent remarks on Muhammad Ali Jinnah. “He said that Akhilesh has shown a lack of sincerity by comparing Jinnah with Sardar Patel. He also said the BSP and the Congress are weak, and even if all three parties come together, they cannot defeat the BJP,” the report quoted one of its sources.

The meeting was also attended by the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath are scheduled to visit Azamgarh where they will lay the foundation stone for a state university and later address a public gathering. Shah will be visiting Basti to inaugurate a sports event from where he will reach Gorakhpur before coming back to Delhi.
