2018 Honda Dio: Variants Explained
The 2018 Honda Dio is offered in two variants. Which one should you put your money on?
Honda has brought in new features and colour options for the Honda Dio and Dio Deluxe for 2018. The standard Dio is priced at Rs 51,292 (ex-showroom Delhi), a premium of approximately Rs 1,000 over the 2017 variant, while the Dio Deluxe is priced at Rs 53,292, a hike of Rs 2,996 over the standard model.
So what’s the difference between the two? And, is the Deluxe really worth it? In order to understand just that, let’s take a closer look at each variant and what it has to offer for the extra dough.
Honda Dio STD Features:
LED headlamp & position lamp -
With the Honda Dio STD, you now get a full LED headlight unit, much like the Grazia and the new Activa 5G. In comparison, the 2017 variant only came with a conventional headlight and an LED strip on top.
4-in-one lock -
Similar to the Grazia and Activa 5G, the Honda Dio features a 4-in-one lock which includes the handlebar lock, ignition and a pretty convenient seat-opening button right next to it.

Underpinnings -
The Honda Dio uses an underbone type chassis with a hydraulic spring suspension upfront while the rear gets a single spring shock. Its 10-inch rims come shod with 90/100 tyres at the front and rear. For braking, it uses a 130mm drum at both the front and rear, equipped with Honda’s CBS technology. This feature improves braking by distributing the brake force more equitably between both wheels by applying pressure on just the rear lever.

Honda Dio DLX Features:
Just like its sibling, the Dio Deluxe also features the same all-LED headlight and a 4-in-one lock with the seat-opening button. Likewise, mechanicals and powertrain remain unchanged.

Apart from the basics, it comes with a service indicator (for timely service reminders) and 3-step Eco Speed indicator which helps you ride more efficiently.
New colours and body graphics -
The Dio Deluxe is offered in Metallic Yellow, Matte Green, Pearl Black and Metallic Grey. In addition, Honda also paints the alloys in gold to add to its exclusive appearance.
Verdict -
If you’re on a budget and don’t fancy the digital display or the golden rims, we’d suggest you go for the Standard variant. Also, in spite of the additional Rs 2,000 for the Deluxe variant, it isn’t all that different from the Standard. Having said that, if you don’t have any budget restrictions and want the extra bling, the Dio Deluxe is the scooter for you.
