New Delhi: Teacher's Day is celebrated on September 5 every year, since 1962. The day was picked by former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan after some of his students wanted to do something special on his 77th birthday. He suggested celebrating the day as Teacher's Day, to pay tribute to all teachers instead.

Dr Radhakrishnan, a scholar and philosopher, believed in education for all. With his achievements and contributions, he remained a teacher all his life. 

To this day, Teacher's Day is celebrated in every school and college with excitement, students will prepare plays, dance, and poems in a way to thank their teachers.
