Karwa Chauth is a widely celebrated event in northern India and among married Hindu women globally. During this festival, wives participate in a day-long fast to wish for the health and longevity of their husbands, only breaking it after they spot the moon in the evening.

As per Drik Panchang calendar, Karwa Chauth occurs on the fourth day of the waning moon in the Hindu month of Kartik. On this occasion, married women pay their respects to Lord Shiva and His divine family. They conclude their fast only after offering prayers to the moon. This fasting tradition is remarkably stringent, with women refraining from consuming any food or liquids, not even water, from sunrise until they complete the puja.

On this day, women adorn themselves with sixteen types of ornaments, and bangles play a significant role. Therefore, there are certain things that every married woman should keep in mind while wearing bangles on this auspicious day.

Things To Keep In Mind While Wearing Bangles:

On Karva Chauth, all married women buy new ornaments for dressing up. It should be kept in mind to never wear bangles of another woman during this time as it is believed that doing so can bring discord in married life. Therefore, on Karva Chauth, always wear your own bangles.

Talking about colours, yellow, green, and red are considered very auspicious. So, wear pink, red, green, or yellow bangles on this day. Women's hands should be adorned with bangles, and it's essential to ensure that there is no white colour in the bangles as it is considered very inauspicious for married women. 

Most women do not pay attention to the number of bangles when they wear them. However, always keep in mind that bangles should not be an odd number like 1, 3, 13. Bangles should always be worn in pairs. Also, make sure that the bangles are not broken.

In today's time, there is a trend of wearing metal and plastic bangles. But glass bangles are considered very auspicious, so always wear glass bangles on this day. If you are also wearing plastic or metal bangles, then make sure to wear two glass bangles on each hand.
