Instagram now reaches half a billion users

New York: More than 500 million users now use Instagram every month, of which 300 million use it every single day, the photo sharing app has announced. Eighty percent of the total users live outside the US, Instagram said on Tuesday. “Whether you promote adventure, craft or a sense of belonging, every photo and video you share helps bring people closer to interests, broaden perspectives and inspire a sense of wonder. You’ve made Instagram a place where the everyday and the epic are always within reach,” said Instagram in a blog post. By combining the power of Instagram and Facebook together, advertisers are finding the greatest and most efficient reach for campaigns across both platforms, the blog post noted. Earlier Instagram had rolled out an update that makes it easier and faster for iOS users to share photos and videos without opening the app. With the help of share extensions users can now send pictures directly to their feeds from apps like photos.
